The SmartGen 3.1 is capable of transmitting all essential RDS data, along with optional features such as decoder information, music/speech flags, PS and radio text scrolling, a fully digital RDS signal synthesis, and two operating modes – Loop-through & Side-chain.
Programming the non-volatile memory is easy via USB connectivity, with an intuitive Windows® interface included on the CD-ROM that comes with the SmartGen 3.1 encoder. Once programmed, the unit can be disconnected and reinstalled at the transmitter site. The SmartGen Basic RDS/RBDS Encoders Manager allows users to save RDS programming information as a file before, after, or instead of transmitting the data to the encoder. This feature is especially useful for managing program-specific RDS settings or messages throughout the day, or for dynamically changing station promos or advertising content.
